Obituary for Edward Scott Lindley
Edward Scott Lindley passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Monday, Oct. 10, in Fairfield after a short but courageous battle against Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (Lou Gehriss disease). Edward was born on Aug. 6, 1939 in Carroll County, Ind. He married Joann Hosimer Lindley on June 4, 1960. He graduated from Indiana Central College (now The University of Indianapolis) with a degree in biology and chemistry in 1962. He worked in food production for Stokley Van Camp, American Home Foods, and Wine.Com. In later years he worked as a substitute teacher for students with special needs in Solano County, Calif. He also served on the Board of Directors for Marks Growing Center in Vacaville and was a Yolo Hospice Volunteer. He was the Volunteer of the Year at Marks Growing Center twice. He was named Father of the Year in LaPorte, Indiana. He was a Stephens Minister at The United Methodist Church in Dixon. He was the recipient of the Yolo Hospice Volunteer Award of the Year and was named the Dixon Outstanding Senior of the Year awards in 2010. He was an avid runner, and enjoyed participating in many races in the area. He carried the Olympic torch in 1996. He carried the torch for the Special Olympics of Solano County twice.
Edward was the father of five children: Jeffrey Scott Lindley (wife Biody) of Anacoco, La.; Marc Edward Lindley (wife Ellen) of San Antonio, Texas; Bobbie Joann Stanfield (husband Jeffrey) of Breman, Ind.; Lisa Marie Boyd (husband Ashanti) of Fairfield, Calif. and Savannah Elizabeth Lindley of Dixon, Calif. He was the grandfather of 14 and the great-grandfather of 6. He was also the foster father of 27 children in LaPorte, Ind.
A Memorial service will be held on Saturday, Oct. 15, at 10 a.m. at the United Methodist Church of Dixon, 209 N. Jefferson, Dixon, CA 95620. An interment ceremony will be held at Ball Hill Cemetery, Cutler, Ind. in Saturday, Oct. 29, at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be sent to : NorthBay Adult Day Center, 1020 Nut Tree Rd., Vacaville, CA 95687; Dixon United Methodist Church, 209 N.
