Obituary for Edward Glen Cicka

Edward Glen Cicka passed away November 8, 2022, surrounded by his family in Dixon, CA.


Ed was born in Walnut Creek, CA on January 1, 1964. He lived in Antioch, CA until the age of 5 when his family moved to Burney, CA. While living in Burney, Ed attended elementary, middle, and high school. He was very active during his youth. Edward participated in vocal ensemble, basketball, track & field, musicals, and CFS. In 1982, he graduated salutatorian of Burney High.


Ed went on to serve in the armed forces and further his education. He received an AA degree from Shasta College in 1984. Then, Ed enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1985 and was stationed in Texas, Colorado, and California. He was honorably discharged as E4 (Sergeant) at Mather AFB, CA in 1989. Ed graduated Summa cum laude at National University with a BS degree in Computer Science in 1993.


In 2000, Ed moved to Kirkland and Bothell, WA while working for the Parametric Technology Corporation. From 2002 until his death, Ed was a manager at Expeditors International.


Edward Cicka was married to Stephanie Rome from 2001 to 2009.


Ed had many interests including fly fishing, car restoration, balsa and R/C aircraft modeling, road and gravel bicycle riding, 3D computer modeling, illustration and 3D printing, general science, and astronomy.

Ed was active for 12 years in the National MS Society’s Bike MS events to support Multiple Sclerosis. Ed rode hundreds of miles while fundraising for MS. He also supported NPR, PBS and various animal support organizations.


Per his request, Ed will be buried at Sacramento Valley National Cemetery with graveside services. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society or to a charity of your choice.


Ed leaves behind his mother, Sally Cicka, sister, Kim Peete (John), nephews Joshua Peete (Emily Corona), Jacob Peete (Catherine), uncles, Jack Monroe, Bruce Hobbs (Susan), Larry Hobbs (Donna), aunt, Janet Hobbs Madrigal, grandniece, Melody Peete and numerous friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Edward John Cicka in 2009.
