Edward A. Collins July 9, 1923 October 22, 2009
Passed away peacefully October 22, 2009 at the age of 86. Beloved husband of Kathleen S. Collins for 55 years who preceded him in death in 2002. Loving father of Peter ( Kathy ), Eileen (Ron Walley), Teresa Christensen (Mike), Michael, Robert (Sandy), James ( Jamie ), Joanne Rauenbuehler (Mark). Preceded in death by his children Harold in 1982 ( Sue Hall ) and Patricia in 2005 ( Steve Schwahn ). Devoted brother to Dorothy Southard , brother in law to Yvonne Jones. Beloved father in law of Joan Collins. Also survived by 23 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Not to be forgotten is his dog and companion, Duke.
Ed was a WWII Veteran who served in Italy and North Africa. He worked for many years as a Traffic Manager for General Steamship Lines and Johnson Scan Star while raising his family of nine children with his wife Kay in San Francisco. He was an active member of the St. Cecilia Parish in San Francisco for many years. Ed and Kay chose Dixon, CA to retire to in 1988, where they made their home for 15 years. During that time Ed was an active member of the Dixon Chapter of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Upon the death of his beloved wife, Ed decided to move to San Antonio, Texas where he was close to his son Robert and his family who looked after him until his death.
Visitation will be held beginning at 5 p.m. followed by a Rosary at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, October 27th at McCune Garden Chapel, 212 Main St. Vacaville, CA. Mass of Christian Burial, Wednesday, October 28th, 10:30am, St. Peters Catholic Church, 105 2nd St. Dixon, CA. Interment directly following at Silveyville Cemetery, 800 First St. Dixon, CA.
