Obituary for Edna Mae Cox
Edna Mae Cox passed away Oct. 5 in Alameda. She was 95 years old.Edna was born Aug. 26, 1915, in Girard, Alabama. She moved to Dixon when she was four years old and graduated from Dixon High School. She worked briefly for C.K. McClatchy and married Carroll E. Cox Jr. in 1949. She then became a homemaker and mom. She resided in Carmichael for 33 years until 2004, when she moved to San Francisco to live next door to her daughter and son-in-law.Edna enjoyed nature, gardening, animals, cooking, reading and the ocean. She was a member of The Pochantus Lodge. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, who were all very important to her. She was a loving wife, mom, and friend and will be greatly missed. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Cynthia Cox and Harlan Woodring, brother-in-law and sister-in-law William R. Cox and Barbara Cox, and daughters-in-law Mary Waynick and Linda Haywood. She is also survived by her three grandchildren, Mike, Shonarie and Jeff, eight great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Carroll E. Cox, parents William Henry Bibby and Laura Bibby, brother Howard Bibby, sisters Elizabeth Warren and Ethel Whitney, brother-in-law Carl Howard, and sons Earl Waynick, Larry Waynick and Randy Cox.A funeral service will be Friday at 1 p.m. at Milton Carpenter Funeral Home, 569 North First St. Rev. Su Schlagel will officiate. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., also at Milton Carpenter. Contributions in Ednas name can be made to the American Heart Association or Meals on Wheels.
