Edna “Jean” (Weller) Mattson, 82, of Holland, Michigan, passed away on May 10th in her home, surrounded by her family and loving dog, Peanut.
Jean was born on February 23rd, 1941 to Elsie (Sanford) & Elmer Weller in Dundee, MI. Jean was the youngest of 5 children. She entered the Air Force upon graduating from Dundee High School in 1959. While in the Air Force, she met William Palmer Mattson, her future husband. In 1962, they married and the two were inseparable from that point on. They were married for over 53 years and had three children, Karen, Donna and Cathy.
Over the years, Jean had many careers. She started as a flight attendant for the US Air Force, then became a nurse, a correctional officer and finally an assistant librarian. Jean loved the freedom and opportunity to travel with the Air Force and ended her work life sharing her passion for reading.
Jean was predeceased by her husband, parents, her sister, Lynne and brothers Lyle and Elmer Jr. She is survived by her sister, Ellen (Larry) Randolph, her three daughters Karen (Steve) Myers, Donna (Tim) Bazzone, Catherine (Richard) Olshefski, her five grandchildren, Timothy Bazzone, Lindsey (Josh) Prittie, Emily Myers, Cali Olshefski, Summer Olshefski and four great grandchildren, Joshua Prittie, Gianna Prittie, Madeline Prittie, Jacob Bazzone and her beloved dog, Peanut.
Edna “Jean” (Weller) Mattson will be laid to rest at the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery in Dixon, California next to her husband on August 1st at 9:30 am.
