Obituary for Ed Rutledge
Edward Ray Rutledge April 19, 1938 ¬ November 22, 2013 Edward Ray Rutledge, 75, of Dixon, peacefully passed away surrounded by family on November 22, 2013 at Sutter General Hospital in Sacramento. He was born on April 19, 1938 in Cottonplant, Arkansas to Sparkley and Marie Rutledge. In 1961 he married Carolyn Nance. Ed served in the Navy for three years on the U.S.S. Lexington, was a resident of Dixon for 58 years and worked at Stoven Brothers and Armour¹s for a total of 24 years. Ed then worked for the Dixon Unified School District for 17 years before retiring. He enjoyed watching his grandchildren¹s sporting events, playing volleyball and croquet at family gatherings, and doing yard work. Ed is survived by Carolyn, his wife of 52 years; daughters Kimberly Long (Rich) of Dixon and Regina Burlison (Mike) of Green Valley; his four grandchildren, Lindsay Vela (Tyler) Brittany Ard, Shelby and Parker Long; his brother, Bob Rutledge, and sister Ruby Luna. He was a hard-working, self-educated man, who gave his all to his family and friends. Ed will be greatly missed by all who love him. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, November 27that 1:00pm at Milton Carpenter Funeral Home. Pastor Dave Lucci will officiate. Private burial to follow at Silveyville Cemetery.
