Obituary for Dr. Charles Edward Kimble
Charles Kimble died March 16th after a brief illness. He was born October 18, 1943, in Columbus, MS to Joe C. and Magnolia Kimble, who preceded him in death. He grew up in Benicia and graduated from Benicia High School in 1963 where he became a football and academic legend. Charles went on to graduate from Oregon State University and also UC Berkeley, where he earned his doctorate. Charles worked as a microbiologist at MIT. After his tenure there, he worked for the University of Zimbabwe. He went on to work as a research assistant at UC Berkeley. He also worked as a tutor, assisting students with theses and dissertations during summer months. Charles had a strong sense of family. He enjoyed sports, photography and linguistics. He spoke four languages. Charles leaves to mourn; sister Joyce Kimble (Sam) Tridente of Vacaville and Aunt Odelle Edwards; one niece; one nephew and a host of cousins.
