Obituary for Dorothy E. Halbert
Dorothy E. Halberg, 99, of Vacaville, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, Jan. 3, 2014 in Burbank, OH. Dorothy was born Dec. 13, 1914 in Louisville, KY to the late Russell R. and Ruth (Gibson) Riddell and she married Dr. Merle Elmore Halberg on Oct. 1, 1937. He preceded her in death on March 15, 1983. She graduated from high school in Long Beach and later from the Los Angeles County Hospital School of Nursing. She was a member of the Vacaville Bible Church and was a supporter of missionaries for many years and was know for her ministry of hospitality. She had a heart for ministry around the World and was currently praying for and corresponding with 52 missionaries. She was a member of the Grandmas Bible Study in Vacaville for 35 years and enjoyed sewing and making baby blankets and made many book recordings for her grandchildren which they cherish. Dorothy’s love for the Lord was a gift she shared with her children and grandchildren and she wanted all of them to know Him. Surviving are her three daughters, Joy (Ira) Keeler of Vacaville, Carol (Ronald) Warrick of Hollsopple, PA and Jan. (Bob) Cochrell of Burbank, OH; 13 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Billie Zepp of Tiburon, CA She was preceded in death by her husband, an infant son Daniel who is buried at Presidio Army Cemetery in San Francisco and a brother Russell Riddell. Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, Jan. 12th at 3:00 p.m. Vacaville Bible Church with Pastor Martin Blanton officiating. Dorothy will be buried next to her husband at Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery.
