Obituary for Dora Jane (Chandler) Albro
Dora Jane (Chandler) AlbroJuly 31, 1920 - November 10, 2009
Dora Jane (Chandler) Albro, 89, of Vacaville passed away on Nov. 10. Dora was born in Vacaville to Harry D. Chandler and Clydia V. (McDaniel) Chandler, one of Vacaville's pioneer families. Dora's brother, Harry D. Chandler II, and sister, Patricia L. Jensen, also preceded her in death.
Dora graduated from Durham High School in 1937. Dora was married on May 4, 1941 to Melvin E. Albro, who preceded her in death in 1998. They lived most of their married lives in Vallejo, Calif., and Hammond, Ore.
Dora was loved by her many nieces, nephews and many dear friends. She was more than just an aunt; she was our family matron, grandma, best friend, our everything.
Dora loved to bake and cook especially for the family gatherings and holidays. She worked as a beautician and at the Hometown Bakery in Vallejo, Calif., for more than 25 years. While in Hammond, she enjoyed the great outdoors and had many special friends while enjoying her and Melvin's favorite restaurant, The Buoy "9." After returning from Hammond, Ore., Dora was always busy doing her special craft projects, crocheting afghans, and baby blankets for her family and special friends. Another favorite pastime was reading, doing jigsaw puzzles, playing cards and board games, while she visited with family and friends.
