Obituary for Donald Gardner
Donald Gardner went to eternal rest on January 23 2017 at David Grant Medical Center, Travis AFB. He was born on August 2, 1932 in Flagstaff AZ. Don was preceded in death by his son, William Lee, his brother Ronald Gardner, and his mother Rae Faria. He is survived by the love of his life and wife of 51 years, Eileen. Also survived by his sister, Josephine Stirnaman, sons Donald Gardner jr, Gary Gardner, daughter Linda Simmons, grand children Donald Gardner III and Randy Stoy, and several great-grandchildren. Don proudly served in the U.S. Navy for 21 years with two Vietnam tours, and retired in April of 1971. He worked as an X-Ray Technician at California Medical Facility Solano and at other hospitals in the same capacity. For several years he ran a private medical education business from his home. For many years Don was a dancer and board member of the Vacaville Pals and Sals, square dance club and the Jefferson State Squares in Crescent City. He and Eileen loved the comradeship and healthy exercise of dancing and excelled at the position of party coordinators. They were also avid lovers of everything outdoors, and camped and went fishing all over California and neighboring states. They spent one whole summer driving to Alaska camping, sightseeing and fishing with friends. Donald Gardner will be sorely missed by his family and large circle of friends.
