Obituary for Dona J. Kelley
Dona J. Kelley, 85, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 18, 2013 surrounded by her loving family. She was born on March 18, 1928 in Lincoln, Neb. In her mid-teens, Dona’s family relocated to California where she resided for 70 years. Dona graduated from Vallejo High School and was often at the local roller skating rink where she met Frank (Jim). They married shortly thereafter on June 23, 1946. She was a proud United States Navy wife, dedicated homemaker and loving, supporting mother to her four children. Dona was a past senior regent with the Vallejo Chapter of the Women of the Moose and an avid bowler in many leagues, clubs and tournaments and served as league secretary. She looked forward to the annual Reno trips. She was a very proud mother who also enjoyed family gatherings, shopping, traveling to Hawaii, tending her flower gardens, and home decorating projects. She was a kind, graceful and beautiful lady cherished by her family. She is survived by her best friend and loving and devoted husband of 67 years, Frank (Jim) Kelley; her two daughters, Diana Kelley Adams (Glenn) and Kathleen Kelley Chun (Bill); son, Jay Kelley (Dana); grandchildren, Peter Garvey (Michi), Brian Garvey (Michele), Dina Chun-Remick (Travis), William Chun III (Jocelyn), Randal Chun, Josh Kelley and Lisa, Danae and Amy Kelley; great-grandchildren, Ryan and Emma Garvey and Payton Kalawika Remick; and nephew, John Wagner. She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Lula Hendrix; son, James Kelley; granddaughter, Amber Kelley; sister, Gladys Gosiak; and brother, Robert Hendrix.
Cemetery: Internment and burial will be private at Sacramento Valley National Cemetery.
