Obituary for Diedre Lee (Winsett) Eckle
Diedre Lee (Winsett) Eckle of Vacaville, entered the gates of Heaven, Thursday, Aug. 3 in Western British Columbia, Canada, after injuries sustained in a vehicle accident. Diedre was born in Napa, on Jan. 12, 1961 to Barbara Ann Winsett and Edward June Winsett.
She grew up in Napa, the youngest of five children. In high school, she was very involved in her church youth group, choir and volleyball. She loved Jesus with all her heart, and everyone who knew her saw that in her life. She attended Biola University in Southern California where she studied Journalism and met the love of her life, John Eckle. John proposed to Diedre at Laguna Beach in October 1981 and they were married on April 24, 1982. They celebrated 35 wonderful years of marriage this year.
After college, Diedre began her career at Focus on the Family, with Dr. James Dobson, in the mid-80's. Her life's passion for defending the unborn culminated in her service as Executive Director of Alpha Pregnancy Resource Center, where she has worked for the past 23 years. Diedre was a member of Trinity Baptist Church and Parkway Community Church and has served as the Vacaville Ministerial Association Secretary for many years. She had a deep sense of commitment and compassion for the vulnerable, including the unborn, young children, and the elderly.
She loved her family passionately and unconditionally. Diedre is survived by her husband, John James Eckle; three daughters, Aubrey Estelle (and Andrew) Boggs, Amanda Grace Eckle, and Catherine Noel Eckle; mother, Barbara Ann Winsett; sister, Sharla Hellgren; sister, Ann Winsett; brother, Ted Winsett, and half-brother, Ed Butler, as well as many extended family members who loved her. She was preceded in death by her father, Edward Winsett and brother, Mark Winsett.
The memorial service will be Saturday, Aug. 12 at Liberty Church in Fairfield, at 2 p.m. A private internment will be held for family. Flowers are appreciated, but the family would like to encourage you to make a donation to Alpha Pregnancy Resource Center in Diedre's name. Published in The Reporter on Aug. 11, 2017
