Obituary for Dermot Doyle
Dermot Doyle was born April 24, 1926 in Flint, MI, died Feb. 21 in Vacaville. Dermot, as a young boy had vivid memories of the struggles experienced during The Great American Depression. As a very young man, he served his country in WWII, US Army Air Corps. In 1952 he headed west for Calif. He married in 1960 to Marilyn (Janssen) and together they settled in Santa Clara, CA, where they enjoyed family life with their five children. Occupationally, he thoroughly enjoyed his work as an accomplished Engineer for 30+ years. 1999 marked widower hood for him when he lost his wife of 39 years. His passion for aeronautics kept him going. Dermot enjoyed all things mechanical. As a young adult he was a proud founding member of the Genesee Gear Grinders Hotrod Club of Flint, MI and in his retirement years fulfilled a life time passion to fly and was a pilot (of his home built planes). He was a motorcyclist, craftsman, mechanic, designer, constructor, athlete, intellect, and jazz enthusiast. Visits to coffee shops, reading, breakfast for dinner, and observing young children discovering life gave him simple pleasure in his last years. Dermot was a follower of Christ, devoted husband, providing father, and proud grandfather and great grandfather. Dermot will be greatly missed. Funeral Service will be Monday, March 9, at 11 a.m., St. Clare Catholic Church, Santa Clara, CA. In lieu of flowers, make donations to Doctors Without Borders Organization.
