Obituary for Dennis Joseph Nicholson
Dennis Joseph Nicholson, age 60, died peacefully at his home in Sacramento surrounded by his family on Friday, Aug. 3, after a long battle with cancer. Born Jan. 23, 1952 in Hayward, he lived in Vacaville and Sacramento and worked for Lucky Supermarket in the warehouse for over 30 years until retiring in 2003. In his off time he enjoyed cooking, wine tasting, and watching motor sports, especially hot rod drag racing. Survivors include his daughter, Misty McCarthy of Vacaville; son-in-law, Matthew McCarthy of Vacaville; grandson, James Joseph McCarthy (or as Dennis would call him JJ) of Vacaville; step daughter, Sarah Saucier of Sacramento; brother, Ron Moreira of Jackson, and many, many beloved friends. Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, Glenn and Alice. Services will be held at 2 p.m., on Saturday, Aug. 18, at McCune Garden Chapel, 212 Main St., Vacaville. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Dennis' name to the American Cancer Society at www.cancer.org.
