Obituary for Dennis 'Doze' Whitt
Dennis "Doze" Whitt, 63, of Vacaville, passed away after a long battle with cancer on Saturday, April 10, at home. He was born on Feb. 7, 1947, in San Francisco. Dennis served in the U.S. Army for 20 years, retiring in 1997. He also worked for the Fairfield Police Department for 31 years, retiring in 2001. Dennis loved camping, riding his horse Stu-b, going to U.S. Army reunions, going to SASS events, and enjoying his grandchildren.
Dennis is survived by his wife of 5 years, Theresa; daughters and son-in-law, Dawn M. Whitt-Chenelly and Joe R. Chenelly, and Desiree L.J. Whitt; stepdaughter, Kaity Dearmon; sons, Dennis S. Whitt Jr., Audie J. Whitt and Bryan L. Whitt; stepsons and daughter-in-law, Tom Annis, Kyle G. Dearmon and Jessica Dearmon, and Nathan D. Skolnik; sister and brother-in-law, Darlene Palmer and Bruce Palmer; mother, Georgette J. Whitt, and six grandchildren, Thomas G. Dearmon, Stephen T. Johnson, Gabrielle A. Johnson, Joey R.W. Chenelly, Josh J.W. Chenelly and Nic A.W. Chenelly. He was preceded in death by his father, Clifford S. Whitt.
A graveside service with Father Bernard Griesel officiating will be held April 14, 2010 at 9:30 a.m. at Sacramento Valley National Cemetery, 5810 Midway Road, Dixon.
