Obituary for David Ross Shepard
The world lost an amazing man, David Ross Shepard, on Friday, April 1, 2022.
Depending on who you speak with, you would hear he was a very different man: A believer of Christ, a sports fan, an outdoorsman, a builder, an avid musician, a gardener and above all – a person on whom you could always depend. David was born Nov. 11, 1945, in Leon, Iowa, to Harold and Velma Shepard. David served in the U.S. Army and fought in the Vietnam War where he came home with two Purple Hearts. David attended San Jose State University and earned a bachelor of science degree in business administration. While at San Jose State University, he met his first wife Susan McDaniel. They had two children: Wendy and Thomas Shepard.
David spent much of his life outdoors and in California. Everyone David came in contact with over the years would tell you that David never let a day pass that he didn’t live life to the fullest. David spent the last few years of his life near his children in Reno, Nevada. He enjoyed seeing his grandchildren grow and watching sports.
David is survived by his sister, Bonnie King, brother Phil Shepard, daughter Wendy Fry and son Tom Shepard, along with their children and grandchildren Emily Shepard, Hailey Shepard, Addy Fry, Taylor Shepard and Eden Fry.
The family of David Ross Shepard welcomes you to join them at 12 p.m. Thursday, April 14, 2022, at the Suisun-Fairfield Cemetery at 1707 Union Ave., Fairfield. A reception will follow.
