Obituary for Daniel "Danny" D. Ornelas
Daniel “Danny” Ornelas, 65, died peacefully in his home after a battling a long illness.
He leaves behind his three sons; Joaquin (Stephanie) Ornelas, David Ornelas and Samuel (Amber) Ornelas; his beloved grandchildren David Jr., Kayleigh and Mackenzie Ornelas; former wife & friend Sylvia Ornelas; his brother Richard (Carol) Ornelas; and a very large extended family.
He is preceded in death by his parents David and Maria, as well as his brother Jesse.
In his early years, Danny worked with his parents at their labor camp they ran from their home off of Meridian Road. After graduating high school, he was drafted into the Army which allowed him to travel the United States. Once discharged from the Army, being the free spirit Danny was, he continued his travels until becoming a rigger at Mare Island from which he retired.
All those who knew Danny knew the love he had for his grandchildren was undeniable. His face would light up whenever one of them came into the room. Danny also had a deep love for music, and at any given time you might hear him belting out a tune with some air drum to go along with it.
In Danny’s last days, he often talked about wanting to return to Baja. Although he physically did not make it there, we know he is there in spirit enjoying the beaches of Baja.
We would love for all those who knew Danny to come help us celebrate one last party on his behalf. A Celebration of Life will be held, Saturday, June 27, 2015, 11AM at McCune Garden Chapel. 212 Main Street, Vacaville; immediately followed by a reception at The Veterans Hall.
