Obituary for Dale Ann Bortolamedi
Dale Ann Bortolamedi was born on October 11, 1948 in Hoboken, NJ and grew up in Carteret. In 1969, she married Vic Barth, with whom she had two sons. They moved to Vacaville, CA in 1983, and soon began attending Valley Church. She worked as the administrative assistant to the senior pastor at Valley for nearly 25 years, and retired in 2011. In 2001, the Barth family changed their name back to the original Italian name of Bortolamedi.
Married for 48 years, Vic and Dale were each other’s best friend. Dale loved her husband and sons deeply, cherished her daughters-in-law, and adored her grandchildren, who filled her with tremendous joy. This thoughtful and tenderhearted woman of God was gifted in hospitality, and welcomed many into her home with an open heart and delicious food. Strangers quickly became friends because of her kindness and generosity. Vic and Dale loved spending time with people, whether enjoying game nights or Bible study, after church lunches or camping with friends. Relationships were important to Dale, and she was respectful and loyal to all. Her love of the Lord was always evident, and she was trustworthy and dependable in all things.
Dale was diagnosed with brain cancer (GBM) in November 2016. She fought a courageous battle with graceful strength, for which we will always be proud of her. Covered in the love of family and friends, Dale went home to Heaven on February 12, 2018.
Dale is survived by her husband, Vic; son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Carla; son and daughter-in-law, Victor and Rachel; grandchildren, Judah, Sofia, Amelia, Giovanna, and Giuliana; brothers Chris and Robert Mazzarella and their families; extended family; and many dear friends. She is a treasured woman and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
A graveside service will take place at the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery in Dixon, CA on February 26 at 1:30 pm. The reception will be at Valley Church in Vacaville at 4pm.
