Obituary for Coillin Auldin Briggs
Collin Auldin BriggsJune 14, 1922 - October 28, 2009
Collin Auldin Briggs, 87, passed away after a very lengthy battle with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD). Auldin was born in Vacaville, attended Vacaville schools and graduated from Vacaville High School in 1940. Auldin married and is survived by Amparo Ampy Cintas on July 4, 1943. They were married for 66 years. He served in the U.S. Army and was with the 10th Mountain Division in 1945 receiving an Honorable Discharge. He received the European African Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon with two Bronze Stars, American Theater Ribbon, Victory Medal World War II, and Good Conduct Metal. Auldin was a sheet metal worker at Mare Island, and went on to own and operate Fairfield Sheet Metal & Plumbing. He was, also, a Mechanical Superintendent and Construction Supervisor including estimating, bidding, sales and design for fabricated steel pipe and fittings. He was a Mechanical Drawing Instructor at Solano Community College and the United States Armed Forces Institute. He was a member of Vacaville Lodge #134, Masonic Temple Association.Auldin had many interests and hobbies. Back packing, rock collecting, wine making, tracking weather and tides, fishing, hunting and traveling in their RV. He was a gourmet cook, using ingredients most people weren't familiar with.
