Obituary for Cleo Jon Woolf
Jon Woolf peacefully passed away Wednesday, May 4th, surrounded by loving family and friends after a brief illness. Jon was born March 5, 1931 in Riverdale, Idaho. Jon was retired from Crown Zellerbach after a 42-year career. He lived in San Leandro during these years, and was very active in the community. He was in the Junior Chamber of Commerce and served 1 year as president. Jon enjoyed his retirement by traveling the world and also showing out-of-state friends and relatives all of the beautiful California landmarks.
Jon lived in Vacaville for the last 14 years. He loved his Vacaville neighbors and was known as the “Mayor of Topeka Lane,” in charge of getting newspapers to everyone’s front doors and also rolling in and out their trash cans. He was the link that brought all the neighbors together and will be sadly missed.
Jon was preceded in death by his parents Russell and Viola Woolf, sister Bernice Campbell and brothers Boyd Woolf and Eddie Woolf. He is survived by his brother Scott Woolf (Betty) and many nieces and nephews that will miss him terribly. Services will be held at McCune Garden Chapel in Vacaville on Friday, May 13 at 11:00 a.m. Viewing is available from 8:30 a.m. that morning. Burial will be at Silveyville Cemetery in Dixon. In lieu of flowers, Jon asked that donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or the Salvation Army.
