Obituary for Clarence Frank Blake
Clarence Frank Blake, age 87 of Vacaville, passed away in his sleep early Tuesday March 8th, during his recovery from a recent bout of pneumonia. A third generation Californian, Frank was born to James and Edna (North) Blake on August 13, 1928 in the city of Sacramento and spent his childhood in rural Sacramento County before his family moved to Reno. In Reno, Frank developed a life-long relationship with his Uncle Frank and wife Marie North before being drafted into the U.S. Army in 1946. Frank received basic training at Fort Knox, KY in the months following WWII and fulfilled his conscription with domestic service. When Frank left the Army he returned to live with his family at their new home in Richmond, CA and graduated from Richmond High School in 1948. Soon after high school, Frank embarked on a 35-year career with the bustling Chevron Oil Refinery in Richmond and married Maxine Buck on October 26, 1952. Frank and Maxine had one daughter, Debbie in 1956. Together, Frank and Maxine had a very active lifestyle, and spent their time visiting family spread between Reno and Richmond and taking road trips around Northern California and the Sierras. They were on a multitude of bowling teams, square danced weekly for many years, and enjoyed the lifestyle of the Bay Area, Central Valley, Tahoe, and Carson Valley areas. In 1975, Frank and his family moved to Vacaville where he maintained a garden and spent hours landscaping his yard. In 1986, he parked his forklift as a warehouseman and retired from Chevron fortunate to be blessed with a retirement lasting nearly as many years as he worked. Frank was preceded in death by his sister Corliss Evelyn Blake in 1935, uncle Frank North in 1960, father James Blake (Elliot) in 1988, mother Edna North in 1992, brother James Stanley Blake in 1998, aunt Marie (North) in 2000, and daughter Debbie Molaug who passed away in October, 2014. Frank is survived by the love of his life Maxine, son-in-law Eddie Molaug, grandchildren Craig and Michelle Molaug, Chris and Carrie Molaug, Crystal and Ron VanWart, and 7 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his cousins Gary and Georgia Tachoires and many friends. Services will be held at the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery in Dixon on Wednesday, March 30, at 11:00 a.m. Contributions and condolences for Frank’s widow are being handled by Crystal VanWart cvanwart99@gmail.com
