Obituary for Clara Maria Smith
Clara Maria Smith Oct. 21, 1936 – Dec. 22, 2016 Clara Maria Smith passed away on Thursday morning after a long, brave fight with Cancer. She can finally rest and be at peace with God in Heaven. Clara, so kind and so loving, had a heart of gold. She brought joy and happiness to everyone who knew and loved her. She will be remembered and missed by all the lives she touched. Clara was born in Madrid, Spain and graduated from the University of Seville. She met her husband-to-be, William Smith, working as a translator for the United States Air Force. After various Stations around the world, Clara and Bill settled in Vacaville with their three children. In January 1984, Clara opened a restaurant in downtown Vacaville named “La Maison” where she was owner and chef. The restaurant specialized in Spanish and French cuisine. She was an extraordinary chef, and her generosity and love shone through the food she cooked. As her patrons can attest to. In July of 1991, Clara closed shop at “La Maison”. Over the years, she worked as a chef for different companies, putting her heart and soul in the food she cooked for people. Clara was preceded in death by her husband William Smith; daughter Maria Cuatla Smith. Clara is survived by her two sons, William and Gary Smith; great-grandchildren Jessica Andres and Jacob Thompson. Her memory will forever be in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. Family and friends are invited to a Memorial Service on Thursday, January 5th at 1 pm at McCune Garden Chapel. Burial will be private at The Sacramento Valley National Cemetery in Dixon.
