Obituary for Charles Leroy Bond
Charles Leroy Bond was born on November 15, 1933 in Sullivan Indiana. He lived there until joining the military in 1951 where he worked as a journalist and radio and tv announcer until retiring in 1975 to Fairfield California. He worked as a teacher at Academy high school in Fairfield,California retiring in 2004. After retiring 20 years as a teacher he started a line dance group and became a bocce ball player and coached two teams at the senior center in Fairfield where he was very active until his last day. He passed unexpectedly but peacefully with his daughter by his side on December 20, 2018.
In 2013 his dancers nominated him for the Community Spirit Award for outstanding service, volunteerism, community connection and spirit. He coached softball for 10 years as well.
Charles married Noreen J. Murphy in 1964 and they had a daughter Frances. Charles is preceded in death by his parents Wesley N. Bond and Alberta Kennedy Bond, his siblings Wanda, Jeannette and Nelson. Known as Leroy until he joined the military he loved Sullivan Indiana and has many relatives there still.
