Obituary for Charles "Charlie" Lacy Warren
Charles “Charlie” Lacy Warren of Fairfield passed away January 23, 2020 at Rockville Terrace Senior Living in Fairfield, California.
Born in Meridian, Mississippi on July 10, 1931, Charlie was the first of six children born to the late Charles Hack Warren and Margaret Elizabeth Pope. Charlie attended Clark College, in Newton, Mississippi where he met the love of his life, Ramona Gene Scruggs. He was drafted into the U.S. Army in April of 1951 serving at Fort Custer in Battlecreek, Michigan as Supply Sergeant and Chaplain Assistant. Charlie married Gene on December 31, 1951 in Belzoni, Mississippi. Upon leaving the army, Charlie began a trucking business with his father and brother. Later, he became an itinerant preacher in the southern states, eventually taking a pastorate in Louisiana. In 1957 Charlie and Gene moved to California where Charlie served as a church planter and began a career in trucking. He eventually went into business for himself as an independent truck driver for over thirty years. Charlie was always active in his local church teaching and ministering to all ages as long as he was able.
In addition to his parents, his was predeceased by his brothers and sisters-in-law James Harold Warren (Faye) and Benjamin Hack Warren (Willie Mae), and brothers-in-law, Robert James Henderson, Jr and Bobby Harry Willis.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter and son-in-law Cheryl and Michael Siu, daughter and son-in-law Gaye Lynn and Leonard Oram, daughter and son-in-law Laura and Chris Franks, son and daughter-in-law Gary and Marlene Warren, daughter and son-in-law Beth and John Hawkins; grandchildren Isaac Siu, Hannah Siu, Jeremy Oram, Corey Oram, Megan (Olin) Hannum, Taylor Rynott, Evan Warren, Andrew Warren, and Peter Hawkins; sisters Mildred Henderson, Mary Ann Willis, Pearl (Bill) Guy, and sister-in-law Vickie Warren.
A memorial service will be conducted Tuesday, February 11, 2020 at 11:30 am at Orchard Avenue Baptist Church in Vacaville, California.
