Carlos Jorge Flores, a beloved husband, father, and brother and a loyal friend, passed away on September 5, 2025, at the age of 78.
Born in Mexico City in 1947, Carlos came to Vacaville, California, at just three and a half years old—a city that would shape his life and forever be his home. From his earliest days, Carlos lived with determination and grit. At Vacaville High School, he found his place on the wrestling team, becoming team captain before graduating in 1965. In 1966, he answered the call to serve, joining the U.S. Army and earning his wings as a paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne—a chapter of his life he remembered with honor and pride.
He earned a degree from Solano Community College in Electronics Technology in 1975 and spent much of his career in industrial electronics, first at Mare Island until 1996 and later at Kaiser Aluminum followed by the San Francisco Mint, retiring from there in 2007.
He had a gift for storytelling and left a lasting impression on everyone he met.
He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Jess and Mariana Flores; his son, Carlos Dennis Flores; and brothers Pat Flores and Joe Flores. He is survived by his devoted wife of 46 years, Susan Curry Flores; his brothers Lou Flores, Robert E. Flores, and R. Tony Flores; and a wide circle of family and friends who will miss him deeply.
A service will be held on September 29, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Sacramento Valley National Cemetery. He will be deeply missed and never forgotten.
