Obituary for Bruce A. Benz
Bruce passed away suddenly in Portland, Ore. where he had just completed culinary school. His father, Robert A. Benz; stepmother Elizabeth E. Benz; stepsister, Laurie Stratton; stepbrother, Franics L. Schropp survives Bruce. Bruces mother, Shirley A. Benz; and wife Tina G. Benz preceded him in death.He was a 1972 graduate of Vacaville High School. Upon graduating he enrolled in an electronics course at the Devry institute in Atlanta, Ga. After a year there he enlisted in the United States Coast Guard. Serving four years aboard the Coast Guard Cutter Vigorous. Upon his discharge from the Coast Guard Bruce enrolled in Sacramento State University. He graduated with a degree in computer engineering. Bruce worked in the engineering field for approximately 22 years. Having no luck continuing employment in that field decided to change careers and try the culinary/restaurant management field. He completed that course in May 2011. Interment will be on Friday, July 15, at 1:00pm at the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery.
