Obituary for Bernard Henry Riehl
rnard Henry Riehl was born on April 29, 1923, in Suisun Valley, Calif., to Rudolph and Myrtle Riehl. He passed away on Aug. 18, in Vacaville, Calif. He attended local schools and graduated from Vacaville High School in 1941. In 1944, he met and married Vera Larsen. They had two daughters and a son. Bernard served in the United States Navy from Dec. 1944 to April 1946. He owned his own hay baling business and was later a truck driver for Sheldon Oil. He retired as a correctional officer for the California Medical Facility after attaining the rank of sergeant. Bernard had a variety of interests. They included hunting, fishing, rock hounding, and playing and singing country music. He was preceded in death by his wife, Vera in 2003, and his daughter, Bernadine in 2010. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Sharon Riehl; daughter, Mary Turner; his cherished long-time companion, Windy Green; grandchildren and great grandchildren. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, Aug. 25, at 2 p.m., at McCune Garden Chapel, 212 Main St., Vacaville. Private internment will be at Vacaville Elmira Cemetery.
