Obituary for Arturo “Arturito” Geronimo Labarga
Born Sept. 30, 1927 in Havana, Cuba. With the Lord on March 21. Arturo worked at the United States Naval Base in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba for 20 years as a Defense Supervisor. He imigrated alone to the United states in 1967 and succeeded in re-uniting his entire family in Vacaville in the summer of 1968 where he spent the next 17 years worked at American Home Foods. Arturo then retired to dedicate all his time to the family he so loved and tirelessly worked to create. Arturo is survived by the love of his life and wife of 59 years, Aracelis and his nine children, Taly, Art, George, Ruben, Richard, Kris, Tony, Carmen and Mike; his 24 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren; brothers, Jose, Guillermo, Juaquin and sisters, Clarissa and Carmensita. Arturo has always been a loving, giving and compassionate man. He enjoyed being surrounded by his family. His hobbies included carpentry, gardening and playing the lottery. Arturo will always be remembered for his kindness and generosity and wlll truly be missed by all who had the pleasure of his acquaintance. Our father, the rock we have built our life on and will continue to be guided by and always be watchful over us, our Tio, Pops, Papa, Pipo, Daddy, Grandpa; our Rock! Visitation will be held Monday, March 25, from 5 to 8 p.m., Rosary, 6 p.m., at McCune Garden Chapel. Mass on Tuesday, March 26, at 10 a.m., at St. Mary’s Church. Interment will follow the service at Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery.
