Aracelis Labarga, 88 of Vacaville, California passed away at Kaiser Vacaville Hospital at 4:40pm on January 16, 2024 surrounded by her loved ones. Aracelis Espinosa was born on September 1, 1935 in Palma Soriano, Cuba. Aracelis was the oldest of 7 children: Manolito, Nora, Guillermo, Saturnino, Xiomara, and Juan Carlos.
Aracelis was 15 years old when she met the love of her life Arturo Labarga. Arturo then asked for Aracelis’s hand in marriage. She said yes, and the two were married on July 19, 1953 in Palma Soriano, Cuba. They dreamed of their future and a better life for their children. Around July 1966 they announced that Arturo would make his departure from Cuba in search of a better life in the United States.
Aracelis would stay behind with all of their children for two years. Upon leaving Cuba, Aracelis and her 9 children would live in a hotel in Mexico for several months. On September 7, 1968. The family would fly to Sacramento Airport where they would be greeted by her husband Arturo. He had purchased a home for their family in Vacaville, CA. where they would live for the rest of their days.
Arturo and Aracelis were married for 59 years when Arturo passed away on March 21, 2013. Aracelis lived in their home for the next 10+ years. Aracelis is Survived by her 9 children, Art, George, Ruben, Richard, Kris, Tony, Carmen and Mike; 26 Grandchildren; 37 Great-Grandchildren; and 3 Great-Great -Grandchildren. Aracelis was preceded in death by her parents Manolo Espinosa and Pertronilla Del Toro; her brothers Manolito, Guillermo, Saturnino and Juan Carlos; and her beloved, husband Arturo Labarga.
Aracelis was sassy, fun, independent and a true Matriarch of her family. Aracelis loved her family and always wanted to ensure every one of them was safe and well fed. always offering to cook them a meal. Aracelis was a wonderful cook, she had an infectious laugh, a fighting spirit, an avid gardener who loved roses, the color pink and sweet treats. She was very, very loved by all and will be treasured forever.
Following the passing of Aracelis Labarga, was the untimely passing of her youngest son Mike Labarga, just two days later. A viewing for both Aracelis & Mike Labarga will be held from 5-8pm with Rosary at 7pm, Wednesday, January 24 at McCune Garden Chapel. Mass will be held on Thursday January 25 at 11am at St Mary’s Catholic Church followed by a 12-noon graveside service at Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery.
A Celebration of Life Ceremony is to follow at the Ulatis Community Center, 1000 Ulatis Drive in Vacaville, Ca. beginning at 1pm.
