Obituary for Anna Mantalvanos
Anna Mantalvanos, 92, passed away in Dixon, CA on March 7, 2022.
Anna was born on March 10, 1929, to Antonis and Sophia Koukouda, in Piraeus, Greece. In 1947 Anna met her husband of 50 years Dimosthenis (Dan) in Larissa, Greece. Anna and Dan went on to have three children Ourania, Dimitrios and Antonis.
In March of 1967 the family immigrated to the United States and settled in San Francisco where Dan opened a full-service gas station. While he was busy repairing cars, Anna would help pump gas, check the oil, and put air in the tires. Anna knew how to maintain a car, but she never learned how to drive.
In 1996, Dan and Anna moved to Dixon to be close to their daughter. They enjoyed spending their summers in Greece. Anna loved to travel; she visited places all over the world and the United States. She traveled to Italy, Australia, Singapore, Hong Kong, Japan, Mexico, Hawaii, Illinois, Arizona, Nevada, Virginia, Washington D.C. and Texas. If there was some place to go, she was always ready. When at home Anna loved to cook and bake, her baklava was the best!
Anna was predeceased by her parents Antonis and Sophia Koukouda, her two siblings Maria and Yiannis, her husband Dimosthenis and her son Dimitrios. She is survived by her daughter Ourania Riddle and son-in-law Gary, her son Antonis, six grandchildren, Christina, Angela, Sophianna, Dimitra, Christiana, Alexandros, three great grandchildren, Sevios, Perseas, and Athena, along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
The visitation will be held at the Milton Carpenter Funeral Home, 569 N First Street, Dixon, CA 95620 on Monday, March 14, 2022 from 5:00 – 8:00 pm, with a special Trisagion by Father John at 6:00 pm. The Funeral will be held at St. Timothy Orthodox Church, 4593 Central Way, Fairfield, CA 94534 on Tuesday, March 15 at 10:00 am. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations are made to St. Timothy Orthodox Church.
