Amparo Marie Briggs, 90, passed away from Alzheimer’s six days before her 91st birthday. Ampy was born at her grandparent’s ranch located in the English Hills/Peaceful Glen area in Vacaville, and resided in Vacaville until her death. She graduated from Vacaville High School in 1941, and married Auldin Briggs on July 4, 1943. They were married until his death on Oct. 28, 2009. Ampy belonged to the Rebecca’s, Daughters of the Nile, Eastern Star and was a Mother Advisor for Rainbow Girls. She also enjoyed her Bridge and Canasta Clubs. Ampy was a wonderful cook. Everything that came out of her kitchen was to die for. You could always count on a delicious meal. She was a very caring lady. If anyone needed anything she was right there. If you weren’t feeling well, she would always bring a pot of chicken soup and jello. Ampy loved to garden. She had two green thumbs. She also enjoyed the many RV trips she took with her husband Ampy worked at Willis Jepson Middle School as a Noon Duty Supervisor the many years. Ampy is survived by her niece, Dorice Perez (Tony); great nephew, Brenden Perez (Krissi) and great-great nephew, Ian Sells-Perez, all of Vacaville. She is also survived by her daughter, Cindy Blinkenderfer and granddaughter, Jennifer. She was preceded in death by her parents, Juan and Anita Cintas who died when Ampy was a very young child and her sister, Mercedes Hamilton. She is also preceded in death by her grandparents, Mercedes and Victor Fernandez, and aunt and uncle, Frank and Louise Lorenzo, who all raised her and her sister after their parents’ death. Ampy resided at Paramount House Senior Living for the last three years where she received the very best of care. The family would like to thank special caregivers Catherine, Emie, Menerva, Neran, Noel, Abby, Mela, Jessica, Joy, Nina, Barbara, Becky, Sophia and Leah, and the many others. Also, private caregivers Victoria and Kim. They all hold a special place in our hearts. Our thanks also to the North Bay Hospice staff who made her last days comfortable and pain free. Services will be held on Feb. 28, at 10 a.m., at McCune Garden Chapel. Interment will follow at the Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to The Alzheimer’s Foundation of America, or any charity of your choice.
