Obituary for Alice J. (Bogdanoff) Shubin
Born in Sheridan, CA, of early 1900's Russian immigrants, Alice and her five siblings enjoyed their upbringing on the family farm, Alice and her beloved "Sis Mary" shared many secrets and fun adventures together. A graduate of Lincoln High School, one of her fondest memories was of being a Drum Major. Alice and Mike Shubin, during their 71 year marriage, were longtime Vacaville residents. For many years they had a chicken ranch at their property on the newly named Shubin Way at Vanden Road. With all those chicken eggs, Alice became quite well known for her heavenly angel food cakes and fresh butter!! With her big, dark sunglases and dry wit, the resemblance to the character Maxine was enhanced by exclamations of "who cares" or "what for" which brought laughs to Alice's family and friends. Another favorite phrase, "lets go", resulted in travels to many exotic worldwide locations with Mike. Russia, China, New Zealand and Australia were just a few; as well as many States here at home. They also were longtime members of The Community Presbyterian Church, Vacaville. Alice is survived by her sons: Michael Shubin ( Diane ) of Sacramento, CA and Tom Shubin ( Brenda ) of Elijay, GA. Services are Monday, July 27th, 11:00 am, McCune Garden Chapel, 212 Main St. Vacaville, 95688. The interment is private.
