Albert Randolph Klotz, “Randy” was born Feb. 16, 1930, in San
Francisco, CA, the eldest of three sons, to Albert and Isabelle Klotz of
Vacaville, CA. He passed away on April 18, 2024, at 94, of natural causes.
Randy grew up in Vacaville until he joined the Navy after graduating
from Vacaville High School (when it was located where Andrews Park is
now). He enjoyed telling of his experiences while on tour in Japan. After
serving, he married Sarah Carol Freeman, “Sally” on July 26, 1952. She
was the mother of his four children: Donald, Kenneth, Ellen and Thomas.
After Sally passed away, he married Marita Olson Rowell on September 26,
1972, the mother of Connie, Douglas, (deceased), and Kenneth.
For work, Randy partnered with his father, Al, and later, with his
brother, Ron, at Al Klotz Auto Parts and Machine Shop. Eventually, he
became sole owner and ran the business until it was sold in the late 1990s.
In his free time, Randy was always active in family activities: 4-H,
swim team and square dancing. He and Marita enjoyed many extensive
travels in Europe, Asia, the South Pacific as well as locations in Hawaii and
the Midwest. They had fun planning their trips, photographing them and
sharing them with others. They, especially, enjoyed working together to
create their beautiful gardens. He liked to bake, especially, chocolate. In his
love of photography, he specialized in images of nature, garnering
numerous prizes at the fair.
Randy is predeceased by his parents, first wife, Sally, brother, Ron,
sister-in law, Ailene and step-son, Douglas. He is survived by, Marita, his
wife of 51 years, brother, Allen, 6 children: Don (Jane) Klotz, Connie (Ron)
Willingmyre, Ken Klotz, Ellen (Paul) Lippolis, Tom (Debra) Klotz, Ken
(Jodie) Rowell, 12 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, 3 nieces, 1
nephew and their 9 children.
He is remembered by how he loved his family, how exquisitely he
perfected his hobbies and, most affectionately, his characteristic,
boisterous laugh.
The family is grateful for the loving care provided by Kaiser Medical,
Magnolia Court Senior Living and Suncrest Hospice Services. It was
comforting to know he was well cared for.
