A memorial service will be held for Jeffery R. VanHoose, 56, of Vacaville, on Wednesday, Aug. 4 at 2 p.m., at McCune Garden Chapel, 212 Main St. Vacaville. Chaplain Eileen Phillips will officiate. Internment will be private at Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery.Jeff passed away in his home after a very long courageous and heroic battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his loving family.Jeff was born Sept. 19, 1953, to James and Patricia VanHoose in Dayton, Ohio. He was the only male in the family of five children, and also a twin.Jeff worked in many fields from oil refineries in the bay area, to Cal Trans in Tahoe. Prior to his illness he worked for David Martin of Martin’s Metal Fab & Welding for 16 years. He loved his job, David Martin and the entire Martin Family. When Jeff was no longer able to work the Martin Family continued to give to Jeff. Jeff was always thankful, and David would tell Jeff, “you were not just my employee, you are my friend.”In 1995, Jeff met Laura Baker and they were together and married 15 years. They were best friends and true soul mates.Throughout his life Jeff established a large circle of friends. He will be remembered for his love of kayaking, camping, riding his scooter, his family and dogs. Jeff also loved to build and create anything - give him a drill, saw or any tool and he would create a project. Jeff was very outgoing, caring, giving, and a friend to all. Jeff never had “bad days” even with his four year battle with cancer he was such a positive and happy person.Jeff was preceded in death by his parents, James and Patricia, and sister, Sharon.Jeff is survived by his wife, Laura VanHoose, daughter and son-in-law Jenifer and Rodney Reynolds, daughter Crystal and fiancee Marcus, daughter Shannon. Son and daughter-in-law John and Stacy VanHoose, and son James VanHoose. Twin sister and brother-in-law Jetta and Lester Mascon, sister and brother-in-law, Cattol and Randy Draginis; sister Sandy Cariglio. Eight grandchildren.
