Obituary for Anthony Julian Ramos
Anthony Julian Ramos, a life-long resident of Vacaville, passed away at the age of 88 on May 5, 2018 with his family by his side. Julian was born on April 5, 1930 in downtown Vacaville in the building which is currently Merchant and Main Restaurant, to Jose and Maria Ramos. He attended Vacaville schools and was a graduate of Healds Business College. His early employment included working as an accountant for George Linn on Main Street, and then by the State of California at the California Medical Facility Prison for 30 years from 1957 to 1987, starting out as an accountant and retiring as a Prison Industries Administrator. Julian was devoted to all Vacaville High School Sports and was inducted into the school’s inaugural Hall of Fame class in 2015. He rarely missed a football game and was the head of their chain crew for over 45 years. During his years in high school he was a cheerleader and played on the “C” basketball team. He was a member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows Vacaville Lodge #83, and of Saint Mary’s Church. He was liked by many and was known to always have a funny joke or story to tell for almost every occasion. Julian is survived by his three children, Tony (Teri) Ramos, Michael (Cheryl) Ramos, and Mary (Terry) Griswold. Seven grandchildren Scott Ramos, Jenilee Pratt, Kayla Hayes, Chris Griswold, Christine Diehl, Jeff Griswold, Kimberly Ramos, and four great- grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Betty, his parents, and his sister Georgiebeth Molina. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Saint Mary’s Church on Monday, May 14th, at 10:30 am. In lieu of flowers, donations in Julian’s name can be made to the Betty Ramos Memorial Scholarship Fund in care of the Vacaville Quarterback Club, 100 Monte Vista Ave., Vacaville, CA 95688.
