What should I do if the death occurs in the middle
of the night or the weekend? The McCune Garden Chapel
staff is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week to provide personal
assistance to your needs. Just call
and we will see that everything is taken care of. We will make the necessary arrangements and notify the proper
authorities. One call does it! If you request immediate assistance from us, yes. If the family wishes to spend a short time with the deceased to say good-bye, it is acceptable. We will come when your ask us to be there. If the death occurs outside your service area,
can you help us? Certainly! We service the communities around Vacaville and can assist with Out-of-state arrangements as well. We can either transfer the remains to another state, or from a funeral home in another state, as well as foreign countries. Generally, how much will a pre-need plan cost? There are three distinct charges to the account. First there are the fees for the Funeral Director and the use of their facilities. Secondly there are those fees that are paid on the client’s behalf, and thirdly there is the cost of the casket. Can Pre-Need arrangement contracts be changed? Certainly, nothing is permanent and it is realized that people do change their minds and will want to change their funeral plans. However, there may be additional charges for any alterations which will incur additional expenses. Our job is providing you with accurate and current information about funeral procedures – it is our only job! We will explain every aspect of the process, outline our options and review the costs of the selected funeral plan so that you will have all the information that you will need to make clear decisions. On Pre-Need plans, are the funds that I deposit
protected? Yes. By state law, an accounting has to be made to the State Of California as to the income, investment and payments received into the Pre-Need account. Can McCune Garden Chapel help me with cremation? Yes,
McCune Garden Chapel has arranged cremation services for many, many years. So, I've decided on cremation. Can I still have a
funeral or a viewing? Yes,
quite often some sort of viewing precedes the actual cremation. We will also
assist you with the necessary information for a funeral with a cremation
following or a memorial service. Normally
you have the right to elect not to embalm. Embalming may be required in
certain instances such as shipping out of state by common carrier or if you
select a service that includes public viewing. If, however, you elect not to
have embalming done, California Health and Safety codes require that the
remains be kept under refrigeration. How much will arrangements cost? Our
prices are itemized. You are shown each price with full disclosure and are
charged only for items you select. We also offer packaged services that are
simple and include discounts. What government agencies help defray final expenses? As
your funeral directors, McCune Garden Chapel will gather the necessary
information to apply for financial assistance from Social Security, Veteran's,
retirements and any others. We're also licensed life insurance agents and can
help make claims on life insurance policies. Will we need to pay the full cost up front? No, we offer three ways of
payment 1.
You can pay the entire balance, if you are able. 2.
Half down and the balance in 30 days. 3.
We will accept MasterCard or Visa or we'll accept
assignment of a valid life insurance policy. What if we can't do any of the three payment
plans? McCune Garden Chapel is family owned. We pride ourselves on treating our customers
like our own family members. In over six decades of service, we have never
refused service due to inability to pay. Because you are dealing directly
with the owners, we have the ability to be flexible and find a workable
solution. What is a Service of Remembrance? Customarily held within a few days of the death, a Service of Remembrance,
or Memorial Service, is a service conducted by a clergy or a lay-person in a
church, chapel or favorite location where the deceased is not present,
disposition having been made by interment or cremation. The family is
customarily present at this service. Can funeral services be arranged in advance of
need? Yes, McCune Garden Chapel offers pre-arrangement of the funeral. If I arrange my funeral services in advance, do I
have to pay for them in advance? No, it is not necessary to prepay for any arrangements you make in
advance. What is the role of the Coroner? The Coroner is an advocate for the deceased. He or she will investigate
the cause of death. The Coroner is called by the physician, the police or by
the Funeral Director. This will often occur when the person who dies has not
been under a doctor's care, dies suddenly or when the death is due from
something other than natural causes. The coroner has the authority to order
an autopsy to determine the cause of death. What if our family has no church affiliation? The Funeral staff can assist in making arrangements that will meet your
needs. We have quite a few Clergy in the area who are willing to assist
families who have no particular affiliation. Is there a fee for the clergy or for the use of
the church? There is really no general rule, this often depends on whether the
deceased had some church affiliation or involvement. For the most part, it is
customary to provide an honorarium to the officiating clergy. How do I get Certified copies of the Death
Certificate to settle my loved ones affairs? The Death Certificate is
issued by the County Office of Vital Statistics. The staff at McCune Garden Chapel will
obtain as many copies as you require. There is an per copy fee
charged by the County for the certification of the certificate. |
